just find your answer.
- Q: The People Scheduling pages are slow to load and use. What can I do to improve performance?
- A: We suggest using a web browser that has a fast javascript engine. We recommend FireFox (http://www.getFireFox.com). It is the second most popular browser in the world and rapidly growing in popularity. It is generally faster than Internet Explorer and tends to be more secure. The hands-down fastest web browser in the world is Google's Chrome (http://www.google.com/chrome). It is fourth place in the browser wars. Not a lot of frills, but really designed well for performance. Both of these browsers are free.
The newest version if Internet Explorer is considerably faster than its predecessors. If you aren't interesting in trying FireFox or Chrome, consider upgrading to the latest version of IE.
One other quick suggestion we have in terms of using the site would be to only use the "Team Scheduling" feature (which shows all future services) if you need to see all those services. If you are scheduling just for one service or one weekend, consider using the "Role Scheduling" link on Roles tab of the service (next to the Worship Flow tab). The scheduling page loads a good bit quicker if you aren't having to load dozens of services at once.
- Q: Why does the formatting of my screen look strange?
- A: If you were a user of the older version of WP, chances are your browser has cached some parts of the old site, as far as formatting goes. On a page that doesn't look right, hold the Ctrl key down while refreshing your page. This forces your browser to update its cache and get all new "stuff". If you still have formatting issues, please let us know via our support contact page.
- Q: Why am I no longer prompted to save an uploaded file when I click on it?
- A: This is related to the way the files are stored. We added a "Save As..." link near each file that you can click. It will change to a link that says "Right click me". Do so and select the menu option to "Save Target As". If you are having any other file-related issues, please let us know via our support contact page.
- Q: How can I easily switch to a different service flow?
- A: The easiest way to switch to a difference services worship flow is to use the small "arrow down" icon next to the service date and time (above the tabs). In fact, click on any part of the service date/time above the tabs will reveal a list of other service date/times and their locations.
- Q: Can I upload files to my WP account?
- A: Yes. Depending on your subscription, you can store 100MB to 20GB of files in your WP account. Files can be linked to songs, services, and teams you have created. Much like a file server on your office network, WP does pays no regard to the type of file that is upload unless our virus scanner detects it to be a threat.
- Q: What are the copyright restrictions with uploading files?
- A: WorshipPlanning.com offers no special licensing to legally permit sharing copyrighted content with others on your team. The copyright issue is a very hot topic these days, largely because there are many questions about what is legal and what is not. Churches seeking answers to copyright questions might consider visiting Christian Copyright Solutions at http://www.copyrightsolver.com.
- Q: Does my account come with any songs already in the songs library?
- A: Most of the songs in your songs library will be added by you or someone on your team. WP has a tool that allows you to import files exported from CCLI Song Select. Also, WP will optionally add 15 or so of the most popular worship songs, according to CCLI, to your songs library as you step through the quick setup guide.
- Q: What song details can I store?
- A: When adding a song to your songs library, you are required to provide the song title. The following additional song information may optionally be included with each song: Author, copyright date, label, key, tempo, theme/category, life-cycle stage (rehearsal, active, retired, etc.), CCLI number, web address, lyrics, notes.
- Q: Can I transpose the key of a song?
- A: Yes. If you enter the lyrics of a song and space them out with the chords above the lyrics, WP will allow you to easily transpose those chords from one key to another.
- Q: Our church has multiple services per weekend that are identical. Is there an easy way to plan for them in WP?
- A: Yes. WP allows you to link identical services such that changes to the worship flow of one will also be applied to the other(s). If you determine that one service will be slightly different, you can "break" the link and modify the service flows individually.
- Q: What is the difference between Planners and Helpers?
- A: Planners are those involved with planning the service or scheduling people to serve. Helpers are typically your volunteers that do not contribute to the plans, but rather, simply report for a service when and where they are scheduled to serve. Planners typically log in to the main WorshipPlanning.com site. Helpers access service details through a special site called MyWP, found at my.worshipPlanning.com.
- Q: Is your site secure and reliable?
- A: We have taken many steps to help ensure your data is always available when you need it. Our main servers are managed by the world leader in dedicated server hosting. The main servers and data center have multiple levels of redundancy, from diverse Internet connections, to multiple sources of power, to redundant server hardware.
Your WP church data is backed up on a nightly basis to an off-server location. The data is also copied to a backup server located in a different area of the country, in the event of a catastrophe at the main data center. Our main servers are monitored by at least three diverse monitoring systems. Should we deem it necessary, traffic can be redirected (in a matter of minutes) to our backup server.
To help keep your data secure, you can optionally log in to WP through our SSL encrypted connection. All of your online payment transactions always take place over an SSL encrypted connection with our credit card processors. Your credit card information is never stored on our site.
While we spend considerable resources to ensure your data is safe and available when you need it, we do live in a fallen world where even the best laid plans can be disrupted. So, even when all redundancies, firewalls, and security protections are working as expected, you'll still find us in prayer for God's protection.
- Q: How can you offer so much disk space?
- A: Some might be quick to answer this question "Because disk space is cheap," which is true. But making disk space highly available, fault tolerant, and secure can be expensive. To meet our availability, fault-tolerance, and security requirements, we have adopted the latest in Internet technology: Cloud Computing. In a nutshell, our disk space is not provided by a single server sitting in one place on the Internet. It exists across multiple servers in multiple locations, by resources shared by other applications. Security procedures ensure the data is kept private and not shared with other applications using the cloud. For more on Cloud Computing, check out the Wikipedia entry.
