Multiple Assignment Response Emails

Tom Metz -

WorshipPlanning.com allows people to be notified via email when someone responds a certain way to an assignment. If you receive duplicate notifications when someone responds to an assignment, it is likely you have assignment response notifications configured in two ways: the "old" way and the "new" way.

Before WorshipPlanning.com had Teams Scheduling (back when just worship teams used the site), we added a "Send Assignment response notification" field to the Service Details page (where the date, time, location, message topic, etc. are specified). When an email address is entered here, assignment responses of ALL assignments (regardless of team) are sent to that address.

When we add "Team" functionality, we determined that assignment responses should probably be sent to individual team leaders. So, we added (to the Team Settings tab) the ability to specify if team-member assignment responses are to be sent to team leaders.

We haven't removed the "old" way because there are many small churches using WP just for their worship team and don't desire to use the "team" functionality.

Sorry - I'm not finding the "old" way (entering an email address on the service details page) in the beta version.  Was this capability removed or put somewhere and I'm just not seeing it?

Hi Jeff.  Yes, our current plan is to remove the "old way" with version 5.0.  However, even for small churches, it is easy to use the "new way" and will even open up some other new functionality if you weren't using teams before.  I see you already have teams set up.  Do you mind if I ask why you prefer the old way better?

Let me preface this by saying I don't have a clear understanding of how this is set up, so I may be wishing for what isn't possible.  I was thinking that under the "old" way a specific email could be connected to a specific service - for instance I am out of the country for the summer, and someone else does the scheduling, so the email should go to them as well as, or possibly instead of, me for those services.  Now it seems they have to be made a leader of a team to get a notification about that, even though for ten months of the year they don't lead a team.
